August 25, 2024, marked the 13th anniversary of Zonhonbio’s founding. On August 23, 2024, the “2024 Zonhonbio & Gensunbio R&D Achievements Report Conference & Mid-Year Assessment” was successfully held in Zonhonbio’s multifunctional hall. All employees of Zonhonbio & Gensunbio gathered to celebrate the company’s anniversary through academic exchanges and presentations. Senior leaders from regulatory authorities, executives from Qianhong Group, and industry peers who have long supported Zonhonbio also attended the event.

The first session began with a speech by Dean Ma Yong, who expressed the highest respect to the leaders and peers who have long supported Zonhonbio & Gensunbio and extended sincere gratitude to all employees for their dedication over the years.

Since its founding 13 years ago, the company has adhered to a talent-driven and self-reliant development strategy, committed to addressing unmet clinical needs through specialized innovation while gradually expanding its global strategy. Facing the current economic climate, Dean Ma emphasized that the healthcare industry is in an era of both challenges and opportunities. He encouraged employees with the words: “You must keep running just to say in place. To reach further, you must run twice as fast.”

Only through self-reliance, continuous improvement, and a focus on three key therapeutic areas and four major indications can we achieve scientifically robust, clinically valuable, and market-driven innovations. Dean Ma highlights “Unity of Knowledge and Action” as the key theme for 2024, urging everyone to reflect, improve, and act with integrity. He stressed integrating patient-centric clinical value and differentiated advantages into the innovation process.

Additionally, Dean Ma announced the winners of the 2024 “Zonhonbio and Gensunbio Long-Term Service Award” and presented commemorative plaques in a recognition ceremony.

This year’s anniversary celebration featured a special lecture by Professor Shi Jianming, Foreign Member of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, Professor at Tokyo University of Science, and Co-Founder of Zonhonbio, titled “The Future is Here: Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedicine.”

With the rapid advancement of AI, every aspect of society is undergoing transformative changes. AI-powered biopharmaceutical innovation has become a trend, revolutionizing drug discovery from basic research to clinical practice and even shaping future directions. Professor Shi’s insightful presentation highlighted a critical reality: "In the future, there will only be two kinds of people—those who use AI and those who don’t." As we stand in the AI era, the key question for every researcher is: How can we better leverage AI tools to accelerate R&D and expand application boundaries?

The second session featured presentations in two segments: "New Talent Forum" and "Mid-Year R&D Assessment". Six R&D newcomers shared their project progress and eighteen representatives from R&D teams and management departments reported on project advancements and platform optimizations. Attendees engaged in lively discussions and academic exchanges during the Q&A session, fostering a dynamic atmosphere of intellectual exchange. Following the presentations, the Zonhonbio and Gensunbio Outstanding R&D Achievement Evaluation Committee convened to review submissions based on three key criteria: innovation, completion, and growth potential. After rigorous evaluations, the committee awarded: three “2024 Outstanding R&D Newcomer Awards” and six “2024 Outstanding R&D Achievement Awards”. A formal award ceremony was held to honor the winners.

At the conclusion of the conference, Chairman Wang Yaofang delivered a closing speech. In his remarks, Chairman Wang noted that after years of growth and accumulation, the team of Zonhonbio and Gensunbio has achieved remarkable scientific breakthroughs, nurtured emerging talents, strengthened core technical capabilities, and continuously enhanced comprehensive management standards.

He emphasized that the company is now entering a critical turning point and expressed full confidence that all employees will swiftly seize opportunities, meet challenges head-on, and stride toward even greater achievements.

Amidst the host’s heartfelt closing remarks and thunderous applause, the 2024 Zonhonbio and Gensunbio R&D Achievements Report Conference drew to a successful close. Together, all members of Zonhonbio and Gensunbio celebrated a practical and unforgettable 13th anniversary, reaffirming their shared commitment to excellence and innovation.
